I’m so happy to start my career with John Mathew Mathan’s A New Love Ishtory in which I play a rich and successful hotelier who is wooed by a tapori (Himesh Reshammiya). The remarkable thing about the film is that it is a rather unique romance, never seen before on celluloid!

Casting
Himesh, with whom I had done some music videos, called up one day to ask me whether I would be interested in doing a film. He narrated the script to me, saying that the final call would of course be Mathan’s. After an extensive audition over a couple of hours, John signed me on.

Stepping stone
I have been modelling since the age of 18 and was Miss India Earth 2005. I got a lot of film offers after winning the crown but nothing was interesting enough for me to sign on the dotted line, till A New…. I have also hosted a show Banungi Main Miss India on Zoom TV.

First shot
The first day’s shoot at Madh Island was one of the most difficult scenes of the film. I was nervous as hell, as the scene required me to yell at Himesh and a veteran actor like Satish Shah. But thankfully it went off well and Mathan called me after the shoot saying that I was very good!

Stumbling block
I don’t know whether it’s a hindrance, but I consider myself a director’s actor and have to be moulded by him.

Lessons learnt
In the brief span that I have been here, I’ve learnt that it’s very important to be professional if one wants to stay here for a long time. Etiquettes like being on time and showing respect to everyone is important.

Matinee idol
I give Madhuri Dixit 10 on 10 for being a complete Hindi film actress and want to emulate her. Everything from her acting and dancing skills, comic timing, looks and smile was in order.

I’m also working on Mudh Mudh Ke Na Dekh once again with Himesh. It is directed by debutant directors Seema and Sudhir.
